- Telephone Tariff Readme
- =======================
-
- This file will list changes in the tariffs supplied with DUN Manager.
- This information may not be used by any software other than DUN Manager.
-
- Currently, there are tariffs available for 46 different countries, with
- 115 tariffs from 30 UK operators.
-
- These tariffs are all copyright Magenta Systems Ltd, 2004, and are as
- accurate as possible, but we can not be responsible for any errors.
-
- In the tables Local Rate means 0845 numbers which are often more
- expensive than Local (no zero at start) calls.
-
- The original source of the UK tariffs is UK Telecom Tariff Comparisons,
- at http://www.magsys.co.uk/telecom/

-
-
- The title in square brackets is used for display purposes in DUN
- Manager, and should include the operator name (usually abbreviated) and
- tariff description (typically the calling plan name and geographic area
- covered. Titles starting with 01 are operators.
-
- The Effective date is for display purposes only, and should be when the
- tariff became effective, or today if not known.
-
- The Operator name is the full title of the operator and is used for
- holidays
- and for totalling by operator, for those using more than one operator.
-
- Up to 20 different tariffs bands may be specified, ie Tariff1 to
- Tariff20.
-
- Each line contains up to nine 'columns' of data:
-
- 1 - time cost starts, wrapping past midnight (so the last tariff is used
- prior to the first).
- 2 - per minute cost in sub units, for tariffs charged with an accuracy
- of one second. If specified, column 5 must be zero
- 3 - minimum cost for per minute, or unit cost for seconds per unit
- 4 - set-up cost or connection charge, in addition to any call charges
- 5 - seconds per unit, for tariffs charged per unit (rounded up to the
- next unit). If specified, column 2 must be zero
- 6 - day of week, coded as follows (D and a digit)
- D0=Every Day (all seven days)
- D1=Sunday only
- D2=Monday only
- D3=Tuesday only
- D4=Wednesday only
- D5=Thursday only
- D6=Friday only
- D7=Saturday only
- D8=Weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
- D9=Weekdays (Monday to Friday)
- DH=Holidays, designated by specific dates for operator
- 7 - free minutes before charging commences (cost usually included in the
- setup cost or connection charge in col 4)
- 8 - secondary per minute cost or seconds per unit, after a specified
- call duration, may be zero if the call is free beyond a specified
- period (in col 9)
- 9 - minutes after which secondary per minute cost or seconds per unit
- (in col 8) replaces normal cost - if zero column 8 is ignored
-
-
- It is important that the days of the week are mutally exclusive, except
- that 'everyday' is overrided by anything else. Note that the old
- tariffs include a starting time of Wend (for weekend) but this will be
- removed in a forthcoming release so new tariffs should not use it.
- Holiday bands must always be at the end. If holidays are specified,
- there should be an operator section with a holidays record containing a
- list of holidays in YYYYMMDD format, increasing by date order.
-
- The header of the file contains two other important fields:
-
- TariffsTax=17.5
- TariffsCurrency=รบ, p
-
- The tax will be added to the totalled bill, not each session.
-
- There are two possible currency units, the sub unit is 1/100th of the
- main unit, and is used for individual call costing. If there is no sub
- unit, specify both currency units as the same, and the sub unit becomes
- equal to the main unit. In the UK, it is normal for itemised telephone
- bills to show the cost of each call exclusive of tax, with tax added to
- the final total. Some other countries may include tax in the call costs,
- but then need zero tax added to the bill.
-
- The TFF files must contain periods (.) as a decimal separator, even if
- Windows is set-up to use a comma. Actual bills will correctly show the
- designated decimal separator.
-
- After creating or editing a tariff file, it must be opened through
- Preferences, Call Costing (using Find), the available tariffs Viewed in
- the grid display, and then Added to the defined tariffs available for
- connections. To test the new tariffs, use the Recalculate Costs option
- to recalculate previous sessions made using DUN Mananger, ideally over
- more than one week so the weekend tariffs can be seen. There is an 'Add
- Tariff Band' option during recalculation which will add the tariffs
- details used for a particular calculation to the comments field, so you
- can check that the correct tariff was selected for the session start
- time.
-
- Finally, once the new tariff file is completed, please send it to
- Magenta Systems Ltd at dunman@magsys.co.uk, and if it is useful to other
- users of DUN Manager it will be added to the web site.
